Some messages you receive may contain suspicious requests that should automatically alert you to potential fraud. Here is what to look out for.
Criminals may pretend to be from OAS FCU in an effort to take advantage of members like you. They might call and say they’re an employee of the credit union, or they might send a fake email that looks official and has the OAS FCU logo on it. They might even send a text that claims to be protecting you from fraud.
These attempts at fraud are easier to spot if you have a good understanding of what information we will and will not ask you for over the phone or via email or text.
We will never call, email, or text you and ask for:
- Online Banking login credentials (user ID and/or password) or security access code
- Debit or credit card PINs
- Full debit or credit card numbers and expiration dates
- A Social Security Number, taxpayer ID, passport or driver’s license number, or any other private information
- One-time security codes that were sent via text or email
If we detect suspicious or unusual activity in your account, we’ll block your card(s) and request that you call us right away. However, we’ll never contact you and ask for the information listed above.
If you call us, we may ask you to confirm the last four digits of your credit card or Social Security Number or provide a security code that you had previously created in your account for this specific purpose.
