After that, you will need to request a letter stating the current available accumulated balance in your name at the time of your application from the Human Resources department’s head office. You can then borrow and pay back money as you need it, up to the approved credit limit.

HELOCs usually have a variable interest rate, so your monthly payment will depend on current interest rates and the amount of the credit line being used.

Home Equity Loan

  • There can be many benefits to using the equity in your home to borrow money, some of which may include:

    • Potential tax benefits: Home equity and mortgage interest payments are often tax-deductible. Consult your tax advisor whether this will be the case for your loan, and for other information.
    • Lower monthly payments: Interest rates on home equity financing are typically lower than on credit cards or other personal loans, which could mean lower monthly payments for you.
  • Yes. Closing fees on a home equity loan are similar to standard mortgage fees (3% to 5%).

You will also have to pay an appraisal fee to determine the current value of the home. This valuation will determine the amount you can borrow.

  • Getting a home equity loan is much like getting a first mortgage; you need to be approved based on the amount of equity in your home and your credit-worthiness. Our loan officers will be happy to analyze your case and give you the best advice.

  • Terms vary, but you can borrow up to 80 percent of your home’s current equity (or current market value of your home minus the principal amount owed on your first mortgage, plus any other liens). A current appraisal is required to determine the amount of equity you have in your home, and in turn, how much you can borrow.

  • Yes, this loan qualifies for our Skip-a-Payment program.

With Skip-a-Payment you have the ability to skip up to two (non-consecutive) monthly credit union loan payments each year, whenever it’s most convenient for you.

To enroll, complete the Skip-a-Pay form, indicating the month you would like to skip your payment, and return it to the Credit Union at least five days before your payment is due.

  • Yes, you need to be enrolled in a degree in order to apply for this loan.

  • A cashier’s check will be issued and mailed to the school directly.

Private Student Loan

  • The conditional approval of your loan is based on an initial credit review and is not tied to your requested loan amount, so requesting a lower loan amount will not improve your chances of being approved.

  • Students can apply for this loan if they are enrolled at least half-time in a degree-granting program from an approved school. This application is credit-based, so if you do not have an established credit history and a steady source of income, a cosigner may be needed. All applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must be at least the age of majority in their state of residence.

  • You may be able to borrow up to 100% of your school-certified cost of attendance. This may include tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other related education expenses. To figure out what expenses are part of your institution’s cost of attendance, check out your school’s financial aid website or contact your school’s financial aid office directly.

  • We typically recommend applying at least one month prior to when the funds are due or earlier. Conditional approval for a loan may occur quickly after an initial review of your application and credit report, however it is not final approval since you may be asked to submit additional supporting documentation (e.g., proof of income, identification, etc.). Your school must also certify your loan, which may add more time to your application process. While it generally takes less than thirty days to process and certify a loan, in some instances it may take several weeks.

  • This loan may be used for qualified education-related expenses that are certified by your institution. This may include tuition, room & board, transportation expenses, laptop, textbooks, and related materials. To figure out what expenses are part of your institution’s cost of attendance, check out your school’s financial aid website or contact your school’s financial aid office directly.

  • A cosigner is not required, but it may improve your chances of getting approved. Private student loans offered on LendKey’s website are credit-based, so a credit and income review will be performed. It can be difficult as a student to have an established credit history and a steady source of income, so a cosigner may help meet the loan application guidelines. Furthermore, a cosigner with an established credit history may help you qualify for better terms that could save you money in the long-term.

  • Typically, your cosigner may be a parent, grandparent, guardian or other adult who is creditworthy and willing to assume legal responsibility for the loan liabilities along with you. A cosigner may increase your chances of approval or help you qualify for better terms.

  • The age of majority is the age at which you are considered a legal adult by your state. In most states, the age of majority is 18, but it may be higher. It is important to check to see what it is for your specific state. Our participating lenders cannot generally lend to individuals who are below the age of majority.

  • No, you do not have to be a full-time student to qualify for a student loan. However, you must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-granting program from an eligible school.

Truecar

  • TrueCar is an information and technology platform that enables its users to communicate with TrueCar Certified Dealers for a great car buying experience. Their mission is simple: make the car buying process simple, fair and fun. Achieving this goal begins with TrueCar analyzing the most accurate, timely and comprehensive pricing information available and then making it easy to understand and available to all; free of charge. This kind of pricing information, which has only recently become available, will allow you to recognize a fair price based on what others actually paid. The result: consumers and dealers now have a guide that helps them establish a baseline of trust and agree on the parameters of a fair deal.

They have partnered with a national network of more than 13,000 dealers (representing about 35% of all franchised dealers) who share the belief that truth, transparency and fairness are the foundation of a great car buying experience.

  • The TrueCar Price Report shows you what you can expect to pay on average for new cars in your area, based on what other people actually paid for their cars. They do all this so you’ll be confident in your car purchase. Harness the power of this information, recognize a fair deal, and essentially become a car buying expert.

  • Dealers generally will do their best to match the vehicle you have configured on TrueCar, but many times they will not have an exact match for the car you are looking to purchase. This is not the dealer’s fault, but rather a challenge with the way cars and trucks are manufactured and marketed. While some vehicles are produced in large numbers, other vehicles are produced in smaller numbers. To further complicate things, many options or colors will be produced in even more limited combinations. This creates a great deal of confusion for buyers that want a very specific configuration. Ultimately this can affect your expectations when contacting a dealer, so it may be helpful to keep an open mind about what the dealer may be offering as an alternative.

  • You can visit the TrueCar company blog. Click here to read it for yourself.

  • TrueCar obtains and processes data from well-known data aggregators within the automotive space to ensure that they present the most accurate pricing information available. They also acquire vehicle configuration data, customer and dealer incentives data, financing and loan data, vehicle registration and insurance data, and much, much more. Their data is among the most timely and comprehensive in the industry. TrueCar’s sampling of the total number of car sales nationwide provides them with significant confidence that their data is representative of the market as a whole. Statistical analysis shows that on the whole, they have 99.1% confidence that their projected Average Paid Price per new car sale in a given week is within $20 of the average price of all nationwide sales transactions during that week. However, please keep in mind that this is the average for all vehicles. If you are evaluating the average price for any specific vehicle (particularly one with very low sales volume), the deviation from the national average for that vehicle can be substantially greater.

  • Their pricing information is updated weekly, and incentives are checked daily and updated as new information is validated. The transactions they use are the most recent available. TrueCar typically pushes data out to the site within 72 hours of receipt of the data. To ensure relevance, they typically only use transactions from the last four weeks, but will go back as far as 8 weeks if the market pricing for a given vehicle is stable enough to be relevant to a car purchased today.

  • At TrueCar, they are committed to keeping their data up-to-date and accurate. When a vehicle has a very small history of recent purchases, it’s difficult to provide reliable price ranges. In those cases, they believe that not showing a Price Report is a better approach than suggesting or making an interpretation of the price.

  • Often, manufacturers charge the dealer not only a Destination Charge, but also some additional fees such as extra freight fees, admin fees, fuel charges, and the most typical of all, Regional Ad Fees. Regional Ad Fees is the cost a manufacturer allocates for advertising and promoting the vehicle in the dealer’s market. For example, all Toyota dealers pay Regional Ad Fees. These extra fees, like Destination Charges, are a legitimate cost to the dealer and should be added to the Factory Invoice. As a matter of fact, many dealers won’t call it out but simply make them part of the Factory Invoice (which could make you believe the dealer is artificially inflating the price, especially when comparing the Factory Invoice found on other web sites). TrueCar includes these Regional Ad Fees and other extra fees, and the curious minds can always see the precise breakdown in our Table tab. This is, however, not a catch all. Taxes, title, license, registration, dealer documentation, after-market accessories, dealer installed options, etc. are costs added by the dealer (instead of the manufacturer) and are as such not part of the Factory Invoice. For more information, please check out the blog article, What is Included in Factory Invoice?

  • The TrueCar Price Estimate shown on the Certificate includes the destination fee and the regional advertising fee. The TrueCar Price Estimate does not include the charges listed in the previous paragraph, nor other state and governmental charges and/or fees, dealer-locate fees for out-of-stock vehicles, and any other charges and/or fees allowed by law.

Zelle

    • If the person has not yet enrolled with Zelle®, you can try to cancel the payment. To check whether the payment is still pending, go to your Zelle® activity page in our OAS FCU Online and Mobile Banking, find your transaction to see if it is still listed and pending, and if so, choose the payment you want to cancel, and then select “Cancel This Payment.”
    • If the person you sent money to has already enrolled with Zelle®, the money is sent directly to their bank account and cannot be canceled.
    • If the payment is no longer pending, please call us at 202-458-3834 or send us an email to: [email protected], so we can help you.
  • Zelle® is a fast, safe and easy way to send money directly between almost any bank or credit union account in the U.S., typically within minutes1. With just an email address or U.S. mobile phone number, you can send money to people you trust, regardless of where they bank1.

  • You can send, request, or receive money with Zelle®. To get started, log in to your OAS FCU’s Online or Mobile Banking and under “Payments” select “Send Money with Zelle®”. Following the prompts, enter the information requested, accept the terms and conditions, and you’re ready to start sending and receiving with Zelle®.

To send money using Zelle®, simply select someone from your mobile device’s contacts (or add a trusted recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile phone number), add the amount you’d like to send and an optional note, review, then hit “Send.” In most cases, the money is available to your recipient in minutes1.

To request money using Zelle®, choose “Request,” select the individual from whom you’d like to request money, enter the amount you’d like to request, include an optional note, review and hit “Request”. If the person you are requesting money from is not yet enrolled with Zelle®, you must use their email address to request money. If the person has enrolled their U.S. mobile number, then you can send the request using their mobile phone number.

To receive money, just share your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile phone number with a friend and ask them to send you money with Zelle®. If you have already enrolled with Zelle®, you do not need to take any further action. The money will be sent directly into your OAS FCU account, typically within minutes1.

  • It’s easy — Zelle® is already available within the OAS FCU’s Online and Mobile Banking! Check our app and follow a few simple steps to enroll with Zelle® today.

  • Your email address or U.S. mobile phone number may already be enrolled with Zelle® at another bank or credit union.

If you would like to move your email address or U.S. mobile phone number from the financial institution where you initially enrolled with Zelle®, simply click “Transfer” when prompted during the Zelle® enrollment process and confirm your desired changes.

Once you transfer your email address or U.S. mobile phone number, it will be connected to your OAS FCU account, and you can start sending and receiving money with Zelle® right away.

Please call customer support toll-free at 202-458-3834 for help.

  • When you enroll with Zelle® through your OAS FCU Online and Mobile Banking, your name, and the email address or U.S. mobile number you enrolled is shared with Zelle® (no sensitive account details are shared – those stay with OAS FCU). When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile phone number, Zelle® looks up the email address or mobile number in its “directory” and notifies OAS FCU of the incoming payment. OAS FCU then directs the payment into your OAS FCU account, all while keeping your sensitive account details private. 202-458-3834

  • Keeping your money and information safe is a top priority for OAS FCU. When you use Zelle® within our Online or Mobile Banking, your information is protected with the same technology we use to keep your OAS FCU account safe.

  • You can send money to friends, family and others you trust even if they have a different bank or credit union1.

Since money is sent directly from your OAS FCU account to another person’s bank or credit union account within minutes1, it’s important to only send money to people you trust, and always ensure you’ve used the correct email address or U.S. mobile phone number.

  • If you don’t know the person, or aren’t sure you will get what you paid for (for example, items bought from an online bidding or sales site), you should not use Zelle®.

These transactions are potentially high risk (just like sending cash to a person you don’t know is high risk). Neither OAS FCU nor Zelle® offers a protection program for any authorized payments made with Zelle® – for example, if you do not receive the item you paid for or the item is not as described or as you expected.

  • Zelle® is a great way to send money to friends, family and people you are familiar with such as your personal trainer, babysitter or neighbor1.

Since money is sent directly from your OAS FCU account to another person’s bank or credit union account within minutes1, Zelle® should only be used to send money to friends, family and others you trust.
