Board of Directors and Credit Committee Elections

Our elections are accessible and inclusive. At OAS FCU we believe in the democratic process; we also believe in the importance of technology to make everything we offer more convenient and available to our membership.

For this reason, OAS FCU uses eVoting, an electronic system that allows members to elect the volunteers for the Board of Directors and the Credit Committee in the yearly elections. The change from paper to electronic voting was implemented over 12 years ago, to celebrate the credit unions’ democratic right and to expand participation to a membership that lives all over the globe. We were one of the earliest credit unions in the United States to offer this solution.

Making yourself heard

Credit Unions like ours are unique financial institutions. Each member acquires a $5 share, which entitles them to vote in the annual election of the Board of Directors and Credit Committee. Unlike banks, we work on the one member, one share, and one vote system.

Participating in the elections gives you, our member, a voice on the direction the credit union will have in the future. You have the opportunity to choose the candidates that best represent and share your ideals, and who you think have the leadership and vision to make sure that the institution remains focused on serving your needs in every decision.

As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative, volunteers at OAS FCU play important roles in our success. We are always looking for dedicated volunteers from within our membership to help serve on our Board of Directors and in a variety of committees such as Technology, Assets and Liability, Human Capital, Membership, Green, and Community Relations.

By becoming a volunteer, your contribution will ensure financial soundness and guide strategic and policy decisions to help OAS FCU achieve overall growth and respond to its members’ needs.

Active, enthusiastic volunteers are needed to maintain a healthy, progressive credit union. Volunteers serve without monetary compensation. Intangible benefits include:
